Healthiest, yummiest, dog treats ever! Chicken breast, apple, olive oil, and flax seed! Easy stuff!!!

I love to spoil my two babies with their favorite doggy treats. Not only yummy for them, but healthy without all the extra added ingredients (sugars, food dyes, other chemicals...etc) that are in most store bought dog treats. We want our little Poms to be part of our lives for as long as possible!
So, we'd normally buy the dehydrated plain chicken, salmon, or duck treats but those
get pricey so I decided to just make my own! When I make these treats again I'll post step by step pictures as well but for now you get step by step directions and the end result picture :) member I'm new to the blogging world- I'm learning something new every day!

The hubby and I happen to own a dehydrator which is awesome for dog treats because they will last so long and have the same texture as the store bought jerkey-treats. However, if you don't have a dehydrator- no worries! You can use your oven and they will turn out just as delicious- you will just have to spoil your pups because just the normal plain cooked meat won't be good as long. You could always just make less, too!

Ingredients
-boneless, skinless chicken breast (we buy on sale, stock up and freeze which makes these treats even easier on the wallet)
-apples
-olive oil (in small, shallow bowl)
-ground flax seed (in small, shallow bowl)
-toothpicks

Instructions:
If necessary, thaw chicken

Once thawed, cut chicken into slices or strips, lengthwise of the breast.

Core your apple, and cut into approximately 1/2 inch chunks. place to the side.

Take a slice of your chicken, dip into olive oil, completely submerging, but letting excess drip off. Next, dip this same strip into the ground flax seed.

Now, place that slice, which should now be covered in flax seed and olive oil, and lay it out flat.

Take a little apple chunk, place on one edge of the strip. Slowly roll it up, like a little sleeping bag (I sat here for a good three minutes trying to give you the best illustration without pics, that's the best I can come up with!)

Once it's all rolled up, place a toothpick through so it stays rolled. You may have to Put two in there.

If you are using a dehydrator, simply place on the racks, plug in, and let them go overnight. Dehydrated meat can be stored in a pantry or Cubbard for 30 days. No need to refrigerate!

If you are using an oven, place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 325 degrees for about 25 minutes. If you are going this route, they are just as delicious, just make sure you treat your pup to these within three days, and keep them refrigerated.

Watch your pups enjoy!!!

Meet the Starlette- Little Ms. Persia

Persia is my sweet baby girl. She's also an 8 year old pom, however she's a teacup. She weighs in at a measly 4 pounds! Persia is a mama's girl- you can be her friend after about five minutes however, as soon as Mom walks in... she forgets you. She's a girly girl all the way who loves to ride in Mom's purse. She won't do her duty any old where, she prances around 'til she finds the perfect spot. She won't walk through puddles and prefers to take the actual sidewalk, none of that walking on grass or dirt stuff ;-) I know what you're thinking, and to tell you the truth, I don't know that Ms. Persita as we like to call her would mine, so go ahead and say it, she's our little Ms. Priss.
